Pete Panepinto
Mayor, January 1, 2015 – present

Pete Panepinto is in his fourth year of office as Mayor of Hammond. Known as Mayor Pete to many, he is also dubbed “the working Mayor.” His main vision is to continue to provide our city with fiscally responsible government while not forgetting to address what is needed for future growth and stability.
Mayor Panepinto has owned and operated four successful local businesses. He began his entrepreneurial career at the age of 25 and later earned a bachelor’s degree from Southeastern Louisiana University in Marketing and Business. He has served on many committees and boards, including as President of the Tangipahoa Parish Homebuilder’s Association and a board member of the Southeastern Louisiana University Alumni Association. He’s responsible for creating the Northshore Homebuilder’s Association, and he currently serves on the Hammond Industrial Development Board. He is an avid pilot and is responsible for bringing back the Hammond Northshore Regional Airshow.
The Mayor is deeply committed to improving Hammond’s infrastructure and its overall quality of life, especially the City’s afterschool program. He has served as a volunteer basketball coach for Options and sponsored sports teams, robotics teams, and kids in STEM camps. He also sponsors floats in the Christmas and Mardi Gras parades and encourages kids to excel in afterschool to be able to ride the floats.
He has been an active member of the Hammond community for 32 years. He is married to Dawn Panepinto, and along with their two sons, they call Hammond home.
